Over 1 Billion People Worldwide Do Not Have Any Scripture In Their Own Language

The Word for the World is inviting you to be a part of what God is doing across the globe through Bible Translation with National Translators.

Northern Africa: (Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria and Sudan )

transformation

“We enjoy learning and sharing the Bible stories with our family and our community. Thank you for supporting us to translate the New Testament

– The Banna Translators from Ethiopia

It is so powerful when local churches and community members come together to help support Bible translation efforts into their mother tongue. Many times, the local church body will assist the translation teams and their efforts by providing prayer, encouragement, or even meals. One Pastor allowed the church building to be used for a recording. This can give the community a sense of ownership over the translation project.

We rejoice that in Northern Africa Scripture is being used to bring peace and reconciliation among different tribes. When conflicts arise, local leaders can turn to the Bible for wisdom on how to respond in these difficult situations.

Pray with the believers of Northern Africa:

  • that the Bible translation work being done would bring people to know and experience God’s unending love
  • that the strongholds of Animism, deeply rooted in this country’s traditions, would be broken by the truth of the Gospel
  • for adequate funding for the publication and distribution of completed Scripture

It is exciting to know that one day children will be able

to understand the Bible when it is in their

mother tongue.

– The Aushi Language in Zambia

For a pastor, not having the Bible in the heart language of the people makes it very difficult to teach them. The community shows greater interest to read the Bible when it is in the language they best understand. The community will know that the God of the Bible is not a foreign God, but the personal God of love.

Pray with the believers of Southern Africa:

  • for the continued translations so that all people will have the Word of God in their heart language
  • for the movement of the Holy Spirit upon the hearts and minds of the people as they hear and respond to the Good News of the Gospel
  • for a continued exuberance in Bible translation projects among the indigenous translators

Throughout Asia

transformation

Now the gospel can be shared in very remote areas where people

may not understand the regional language.

– Translator from Asia

Because of the translation efforts taking place in Asia, the story of Jesus is being shared with family, friends, and colleagues—many of whom share in the Buddhist tradition. For the first time in history, people are hearing the stories of Jesus and experiencing Christ’s love because Scripture has been translated into their heart language. This reality is what encourages the translation teams to work diligently.

Pray with the believers of Asia:

  • that the people will have open hearts and receptiveness to the Gospel
  • for opportunities for the translated Scriptures to be shared in the community and used for encouragement and spiritual growth
  • that there will be protection over the translation teams and their families from all forms of persecution
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
